School Basics

About Galloway Elementary
Bedford Galloway Elementary was established 1963 and named after a beloved former school board member who served in the school district for 10 years. After more than 40 years serving students and the community, the campus underwent renovations in 2006. Today Galloway Elementary is home to approximately 450 students and 65 staff members.

At Galloway Elementary we recognize the greatness in other cultures, ideas, beliefs, and we learn and lean on others for strength in times of need. As leaders in the lives of our students, we are committed to modeling empathy and compassion so they will learn from and lean on others as well. In doing so, we teach them that "greatness in not one great thing, but rather small things done in great ways."

Excellence begins at Galloway Elementary and we encourage all staff and students to exhibit Galloway greatness by Speaking great words. Doing great things.

Our Principal

April Sarpy has dedicated 17 years in serving the community through education from the Metroplex to deep East Texas. Ms. Sarpy graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in English and earned a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from The University of Texas at Arlington.

Ms. Sarpy is originally from Henderson, Texas where she was raised by loving parents, the late Mr. Gerald Sarpy Sr. and Ms. Sammie Sarpy.

A product of a tight-knit family full of educators, Ms. Sarpy has a love for people, students and teachers alike. Ms. Sarpy serves the Galloway community and adheres to the mission “Speak GREAT words. Do GREAT things.” It is this creed that drives her to achieve greatness for her school.

Michelle Obama said: “Our greatness comes when we appreciate each other’s strengths, when we learn from each other, when we lean on each other.” Ms. Sarpy leads by this quote about greatness because it encompasses the tenets of the Galloway creed.
